Primary School

Joshua College provides education at the primary level using The Good and the Beautiful curriculum for all subjects other than mathematics.  This is an American curriculum based on the Charlotte Mason philosophy and offers an extremely high standard of education with a focus on developing reading, spelling and writing skills. 
There is extensive reading of beautiful stories connected to their work which sparks a love and interest in the beauty of books and the written word.   This creation-based course work is beautifully interwoven with colour and art that brings joy to the children as they grow and learn.  The subjects are linked together providing an interrelated and holistic view that allows the child to see the connection between various fields.  We are developing an online platform to assist the children and teachers to work more efficiently while working remotely. Other material will be added to the current work and courses have been developed for older grades to ensure that students can still have the highest level of education while working from home.
Due to the fact that children above Grade 3 can work reasonably independently with support and guidance and at a pace that is possible for them, children entering the school who have gaps in their foundation knowledge have the opportunity to repair those gaps. 
Children in all grades work very closely with their teacher but  Grade 1 - 2 work get very intensive attention. 
In Mathematics Joshua College offers Maths U See which is a hands-on curriculum to build and solidify foundational concepts.  Mastery is required at each level before moving on.  This ensures that no groundwork is skipped.  Revision on past work is constant using real life applications.
